Oh Happy Day!!

Today is a very SPECIAL day! It's my 8 year anniversary with the hubby!! :) Wow.........has it really been 8 years already?! AMAZING!
A little snippet of info surrounding our whirl-wind marriage...

We met in March of my Senior year in High School (I was 18 and he was 23). Since he is 5 years older than me, he had already graduated from college and been living in Washington, D.C for a while. His mom had been my hairstylist since I was a little girl...yet I never knew/met him.

One day, when I was getting my hair cut, his mother asked me if I would like to exchange emails with her son because he is moving home back home from Washington, D.C. (Oh and our parents only live 1/2 mile from each other). We exchanged a few emails and met the day after he moved. The rest is HISTORY!  We were married July 31st (a mere 4 months later). He is my soul mate and I adore him! He is my Everything... :)

Ohhhhhhhhhh...and look what the hubby got for me for our special day!! Love, Love, LOVE!! (amethyst, natural pink sapphires, white diamonds, strawberry goldIt has to get resized, so I don't have an official pic of it on my finger, but I will post it as soon as I get it! Can't wait....hehehe!

Whooohoooo! It's Monday!!

Monday's have officially become my favorite day of the summer thanks to Tara's (4th Grade FrolicsFABULOUS  linky party: MONDAY MADE IT!
Before I get started, I wanted to give a special shout out to the people/companies that I utilized to make these wonderful creations!

Okey Dokey...let's get to it!

Project #1: Behavior Clip Chart
I blogged way back in my first few posts about how I saw this chart floating around Pinterest and that I was excited to add on to what I had already been doing in my classroom! Haha! Well...It seems as if everyone else in the teaching world has also caught the same excitement bug and there are so many AMAZING creations/variations out there! (Owls, Superheros, Baseball, etc.) So, I thought I would try to create my very own version! Here is what I came up with... :)
Closer view (before lamination)
After lamination...preparing to be hole punched
Hanging on the bathroom door by the Rewards display I wrote about last week!

Project #2: Math Workshop Bulletin Boards
This took FOREVER to accomplish! But it was so worth it... I wanted to create my own version of a math workshop rotation chart based on what I've seen out there in the blogging world. I think it turned out great! I will post soon with more specifics about how my Math Workshop is going to run...Stay tuned!
My Math Wall!
Rotations Bulletin Board
Activities Bulletin Board

Project #3: Bathroom Vacant/Occupied Sign
Last week, I was perusing everyone else's Monday Made It's and I came across this genius idea! Unfortunately, I can't remember who posted about this last week....so if you could let me know...I'll give you credit for it! :) I especially liked this idea because of the fact that I work with students who are deaf/hard of hearing. Half of my students cannot hear anything (even with aids), therefore, they cannot hear the bathroom fan running or a response to a knock. This will be so helpful to them!

Project #4: Star Student
Every Thursday/Friday, I am planning on having my students nominate a fellow classmate for the Superstar Student of the Week. I have a good idea on how I am going to go about this...and will be posting about it once the school year starts! This way I can have pictures of the process to share with y'all... This is what the Superstar Student of the Week will get to put on their chair for recognition (along with their picture posted in the hallway).
Dollar find at Target...It was too long, so I cut the bottom half off of it due to my students having chair pockets. I didn't want the student to struggle getting their materials in and out of the pocket. Here is the final product:
Final Product!
So, those were all of my major projects...however, I wanted to share a cute little item that I will adding to my desk! I did put the rhinestones and vinyl lettering on myself! :) LOVE!

Off to stalk y'all's blogs...Can't wait to see all the goodies! :)

Tell me more, Tell me more!!

The Olympics have begun! Yay! So, I'll make this as quick as possible...

1.) I have been married to a WONDERFUL man for 8 years! (on July 31st) I adore him and look forward to many more adventures together! :)

An old pic, but it's one of my favorites! :)

2.) I currently live in Tennessee, but grew up in Ohio...Lovin' it here in the south!

3.) My nickname is GOMER. All of my friends and family that knew me growing up call me that....the hubby does not! LOL! My maiden name is Gomez and people used to call my dad Gomer. So, when I came along...I was dubbed "Little Gomer" which eventually became just Gomer... :)

4.) My mom owned a dance studio and taught for many, many years! Therefore, I grew up around music and dancing! My favorite was tap and jazz. My mom, sister, and I would perform at the end of every recital together...ahhhh...memories!

My mom, sister & I all have identical outfits...I'm the littlest one!

5.) My favorite pastime growing up was fishing with my dad! I loved it... I don't have any pics from way back when, but I have a pic from the most recent fishing trip we've taken! (on Lake Erie for Father's Day a few years ago)

I caught the biggest one! Yay!

6.) I love going on vacations with the hubby and family!
ALASKA -- 5 year Anniversary!

CANCUN -- w/ both sets of parents (not pictured..haha! sorry...)
ARIZONA/GRAND CANYON -- w/ my family
7.) I love musicals (Grease, Sweeny Todd, Phantom of the Opera), but my favorite musical is the NEWSIES!! Haha...My sister and I can practically recite the entire movie by heart! (That's my cigar!...You'll steal another...Hey bummers, we've got work to do!) Plus it's got one of my favorite actors in it...Love me some Christian Bale! :)

8.) We adopted our cat, Bernadette, (the hubby names all of our animals) from Friends of Felines' Rescue Center.
She was so little!
9.) I have a tattoo...and absolutely LOVE it! I want another someday soon...
It's a cross with a pic of my hands signing Jesus overlaying it...
10.) I am a pasta lover...spaghetti, fettuccine, baked ziti, tortellini...YUMMY!!

11.) I have met Peter Facinelli! (Carlisle from Twilight)
12.) HBO is one of my favorite channels because it has some of the best TV series to watch...True Blood, Game of Thrones, Girls...

13.) Favorite games to play: Phase 10 & LRC

Hope y'all enjoy reading about my little quirks! :) I'm off to watch the Olympics now!

T.G.I.F.

I've been wanting to join in on this linky with Susan at T.G.I.F. (Thank God It's First Grade) for a while, but haven't really had the time/motivation to sit down and type all of this yummy goodness out! :)

First off, I am NOT a cook! (The hubby can confirm that...haha!) But I do have a few dishes that I can throw together and they are FABULOUS!! So, I thought I'd share it with y'all!

CHICKEN ENCHILADAS (White...no red sauce)
If you click on the recipe pictures below, they should enlarge and you should be able to read them in a larger format!
Recipe w/ Ingredients (Front)
Recipe (Back) How to make this yummy goodness!
All necessary ingredients (minus chicken, chilies, and onions)
Cook chicken w/ garlic salt sprinkled on, saute in chicken broth, & shred.
Combine all other ingredients (minus tortillas, cream/milk, & cheese) in mixing bowl.
Add shredded chicken in with ingredients in bowl & mix together well.
Place tortillas filled with mixture into a greased 9x13 pan.
Cover with cheese. (The recipe calls for a TON, but we don't use it all. Use your judgement!)
Pour cream/milk over the enchiladas, cover, and bake @ 350 for 30-45 min or until the cheese is BUBBLING!
Serve & ENJOY!
Hope y'all give this a try sometime...It's the best chicken enchilada recipe I've ever had! I made it for the assistants at my school for Assistant's Day and they LOVED it! One of them even HATES anything that has sour cream or cream cheese in it, but as she says...This recipe is da B.O.M.B. (Her words!

Have a FABULOUS weekend y'all...

Sneak Peek at Classroom Projects...

This week I've been in full on creation mode! Designing my behavior chart, creating math workshop rotation board labels, making CCSS strips to put onto the lovely chart I made last week....Geez...it's been a HUGE undertaking...

I thought I'd share a little bit of what I've done thus far...

BEHAVIOR CLIP CHART
I've talked about this before in my past posts, but I've put it off for a while. There are tons of these clip charts out there and they are all so cute! So, I wanted to design one myself. Now...it's nothing special, but I still think it looks pretty snazzy! ;) This is just a peek...I will post the final product on Monday Made It! :)

MATH WORKSHOP ROTATION BOARD
One of my goals this year is to dive into doing more of a guided math routine with my students. So, I sat down at my computer yesterday and created the elements I need to put together my Math Workshop bulletin board. Here's a look at what I came up with...This is NOT how the board will be set up (I just organized it this way for the pic), but you can see the different elements that will be incorporated into it! Final details to come on Monday...

CCSS STRIPS
On Monday, I posted this:
These are the Common Core/TN State Standard charts that I created last week to display the standards we will be working on in class. Since this base chart was done, I needed to create strips with the standards on them that will be put on the chart. I will be putting Velcro on the chart as well as the strips to make them stick well...I'm in the process of cutting out the strips now...This is taking a LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG time... (but it will be worth it!)

Well...That's all for now! I'm off to continue cutting out these lovely standard strips... *sigh* Hope y'all have a great evening!
